William L. "Willy" Ridge, age 76, of Pottsville, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born in Phoenix Park, PA, on September 7, 1937, he was the son of the late Russell and Pearl (Dent) Ridge.

Bill served in the US Army, as a Private First Class, from September 1961 until September 1963.

He worked as a Maintenance Superintendant and Safety Coordinator for the American Argo Corporation, located in Pottsville.  Bill was responsible for all twenty-one plants until he retired in 2002.

He took great pride in his hobby of fixing and sharpening tools for friends and family, and he loved collecting things, especially old planers.  Bill was an avid country music fan; he especially idolized George Jones.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Bill was a kind and generous person, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Milton and Russell Ridge, and his good friend and future in-law, James J. Gorski.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of thirty-six years, Debra M. (Valentine) Ridge; two sons, Brett M. Ridge and his fiancé Jennifer L. “Jenny” Gorski, and William J. Ridge and his girlfriend Jennifer M. Skokowski; daughter, Lori Ann Leroux and her husband Kevin; four grandchildren, Bron S. and Aron M. Brower, Emily Rose, and Kailey E. Shadle; two brothers, Raymond and Harry Ridge; sister, Betty Ridge; extended family, Jim and Carol Parry; Aunt Ann; future in-laws, Lois  E. Gorski (“the cook”), and Chris M. Shadle and Ben Becker; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike Street, Port Carbon, at 10:30AM on Tuesday, May 20th, with the Rev. Robert Burkey officiating.
