John J. “Jay” Balulis, 70 of Lake Wynonah, passed away early Friday morning at his residence.

Born in Pottsville and raised in Port Carbon he was a son of the late Adam and Eness (Valentine) Balulis.

Jay graduated from Nativity B.V.M. High School and he was U.S. Airforce veteran having served at Walker Airforce Base, New Mexico.

He worked as a Manufacturer Representative for the former M. Lavine and Associates for over 25 years before retiring.

Jay was a basketball coach for the St. Stephen’s C.Y.O league for 25 years and was a member of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Ellen (Schucker) Balulis and a brother; Edward A. Balulis, February 17, 2014.

Jay is survived by his wife of 26 years Mary E. Regrut Balulis, Lake Wynonah; a daughter Kimberley Haynes, Westminster, MD; two step-daughters; Cynthia L. Albright and Elizabeth A. Albright, both of Pottstown; a sister-in-law Mary C. Balulis, Port Carbon; a nephew; Adam Balulis and his wife Stacey and their children, Schuylkill Haven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, with Rev. David W. Karns, as celebrant.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Monday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Robert A Evans, Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon.

Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
