Jane C. Jones, age 79, of Pottsville, PA passed away Friday, October 23rd, 2015 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Pottsville, PA on May 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard T. and Katie (Schadel) Schappell.
Jane was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1954. She was a member of the former First United Church of Christ in Pottsville, where she was a very actively involved and now a member of the Faith Church in Orwigsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Sara Wetzel, Catherine Schappell, Marion Brauch, Violet Starr, Helen Kraus, and Frances Chappell and 3 brothers: Daniel, George, and Earl Schappell.
Jane is survived by her husband of 55 years, John H. Jones, Pottsville; 3 daughters: Carolyn A. Guscott and her husband Jeffrey, Pottsville, Marsha J. Dudash and her husband Robert, Pottsville, and Jacqueline M. Jones- Allison and her husband Sean, Orwigsburg; 6 grandchildren: Eric, Jillian, and Rachel Guscott, Jack Dudash, and Nicholas and Joshua Allison; a great-granddaughter Kira; 2 sisters: Mary Boyer, Blandon and Barbara Staller, Pottsville; 3 brothers: Howard Schappell, Hegins, Karl Schappell, Allentown, and Paul Schappell, Deer Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon on Friday October 30th at 11AM, with Rev. Doug Cresswell officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Friday morning from 9:30-11AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.
