Edward W. Lord, Jr., age 89, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services in Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, PA on February 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Elizabeth E. (Zimmerman) Lord Sr.

Ed was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Apprentice 2nd class V6 during WW II.

Ed worked for the Boilermaker's Union #13 in Philadelphia for over 20 years until retiring in 1993.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville. Ed loved art and was a great recreational artist and a great interior decorator. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife Joan going to the casinos in Atlantic City and PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Joann McLaughlin and a brother Richard Lord.

Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan T. (Purin) Lord; a step-son Michael Piara; 2 sons: David J. Lord and his wife Lisa and Edward W. Lord III and his wife Donna; 2 daughters: Roberta Reece and her husband Joe and Donna Lord; 13 grandchildren, including Edward W. IV; and 9 great-grandchildren. 

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 1PM on Monday, March 21st, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday from 12-1PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment with Military Honors will be held in the St. Stephen Cemetery in Port Carbon.
