Joseph B. Porter
Joseph B. Porter, age 90, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Thursday, March 31st, 2016 at Tremont Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born in Morea, PA on February 19, 1926.
He retired from a career in the US Army as a Warrant Officer, which began during WWII. During his military career he earned a Purple Heart with clusters, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star.
Joe was a member of the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon, a member of the Saint Clair American Legion, and a member of the Port Carbon AMVETS, Post 227. Joe was an AMVETS National commander and service officer
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Elaine (Hardwick) Porter.
Joe is survived by 2 sons: Robert Porter and his wife Margie, Port Carbon and Charles J. Porter, Pottsville; and granddaughters: Pamela, Christine, Deborah, Erika, and Michelle, who gave him numerous loving great grandchildren
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon at 11am on Wednesday, April 6th, with Rev. David W. Karns officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 9-10:30am at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Queen of the Universe Cemetery in Pottsville.
