Ruth Ann Ebling, age 75, of Pottsville, PA passed away Thursday, January 9th, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services in Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, PA on May 24, 1938,  she was the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Victoria (Poda) Wood.

Ruth graduated from Pottsville High School, Class of 1956.  She worked in various local garment factories around Pottsville and then worked as a Nurses Aid for the Leader Nursing Home in Pottsville for 5 and 1/2 years, and last worked as a Kitchen Aid for the Pottsville Hospital for 11 and 1/2 years until retiring 1998.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville, PA, where she was also in the Circle 5 and a Girl Scout Leader.  She was a chaperone for the Belvedere Drum and Bugle Corp in Schuylkill Haven and she loved to attend the Holy Family Day Care in Orwigsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John S. Ebling Sr. on April 12, 1996, a brother Buddy Wood, and 3 sisters:  Doris Miske, Alice Holshue, and Betty Rubright.

Ruth is survived by a son John S. Ebling Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, St. Clair; 4 daughters Judy Piel and her husband Joe, Pottsville, Jean Miller and her husband Tom, Pottsville, Janice Villanueva and her husband Paul, Minersville, and Joy Heffner and her husband Craig, Schuylkill Haven; 6 grandchildren:  Joseph Piel and his wife Meredith, Exton, Michelle Brooks and her husband William, Suffolk, VA, David Miller and his wife Ashley, Blandon, Jessica Macker and her husband Nick, Chalfont, Geoffrey Miller and his fiance' Leslie Price, Pottsville, and John S. Ebling III and his companion Kelsey Bogan, King of Prussia; 6 great-grandchildren:  Carter, Jake, Elise, Shane, Anna, and Emily; a sister Virginia Kozura, Bowie, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

A Religious Service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville on Monday January 13th at 10AM, with Rev. Harold Hand officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Sunday evening from 6-8PM and Monday morning from 9-10AM at the Church.

Interment will be held in the Cressona Cemetery in Cressona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Day Care, 900 West Market Street, Orwigsburg, PA 17901 or to the Trinity Lutheran Church 300 Arch Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
