Robert V. "Dominic" Tobin, age 76, of Cumbola, PA passed away unexpectably on Sunday, May 11th, 2014 at his home.

Born in Cumbola, PA on October 12, 1937,  he was the son of the late John P. and Catherine M. (Stiles) Tobin.

Bob attended Blythe Township High School and then began his military career, serving first in the US Marine Corp and then in the US Army where he did three tours in the Vietnam War.  He was stationed in the US and in Kaiserslautern, Germany for 11 years.  During his military career he earned many medals which included a Bronze Star Medal with VDevice; the National Defense Serivce Medal; the Vietnam Sevice Medal; the Republican of Vietnam Service Medal; the Armed Forces Expedetionary Medal, the Marine Good Conduct Ribbon; and a Presidential Unit Citation.

After retiring from the militaray, Bob worked as a security guard for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville and then for the Fairlane Village Mall in Pottsville and he also was a truck driver for the Anderson Window Company in Winber, PA.

He was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in New Philadelphia, the American Legion in New Philadelphia, The DAV, and the Schuylkill Amature Repeater Association.  He was also a Past Fire Chief for the Cumbola Fire Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers:  John, Francis, Michael, Gregory, Thomas, and Patrick Tobin, and a sister Viola Lubinsky.

Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Waltraud U. (Schneller) Tobin, Cumbola; 2 sons:  Robert K. Tobin and his wife Kelly L., Pottsville and John P. Tobin and his wife Amy A., Cumbola; 2 granddaughters:  Sara and Maggie Tobin, both of Pottsville; a step granddaughter McKenzie Mozloom, Cumbola; a sister Helen Shaw, Schuylkill Haven; and many nieces and nephews.

His service and interment will by hed privately at the convienence of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Church Memorial Fund, 99 Valley Street, New Philadelphia, PA 17959.
