Bertha Petrishko, 94, passed away on Friday November 4, 2022 at the home of her daughter Theresa, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Duncott, PA in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Valosin) Verbosh.
Bertha was a graduate of the former Cass Twp. High School in 1945. She was employed at the former Phillips Jones Shirt factory in Minersville from 1945 to 1950.
Bertha enjoyed going to the Casinos, gardening, playing cards and bingo, and cooking for her family. She always made the best Halupkies, Perogies, Potato Salad, and Chicken and Dumplings. Her family meant everything to her. Having them all together at her house during the Holidays was her greatest joy. Bertha was a Beloved Woman, who lived her life with graciousness, kindness, and generosity.
She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in St. Clair.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles, who died on September 12, 1994, six brothers: Michael, Peter, Andrew, John, George, and Joseph, five sisters: Mary Verbosh, Julia Ryan, Anna Gavaletz, Veronica Sekellick, and Helen Platko, and son-in-law Donald Lubinsky Sr. in 2020.
Bertha is survived by four daughters: Carol Hamera and her husband Leonard, Arizona, Theresa Lubinsky, Pine Grove, Barbara Stepenosky and her husband David, Reading, and Joann Schultz and her husband Mark, Llewellyn; she was Nana to twelve grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Irene Dallago, Reading and nieces and nephews. Bertha will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday November 11th at 10AM at the St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in St. Clair, with Rev. James Carroll officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday evening from 6-8PM and Friday morning from 8:30-9:30AM at the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon.
A Parastas Service will be held on Thursday November 10th at 7PM at the Funeral Home.
