Francis David Wetzel, age 73, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, PA on April 8, 1952, he was the son of the late Leroy and Mary (Benedict) Wetzel.
Francis served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a foreman for the Pottsville City Street Department for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Pottsville, the former Mary Queen of Peace Church, Pottsville, the Pottsville AMVETS and a former member of both the Buck Fever Rod and Gun Club and the Mechanicsville Game and Fish. Francis was an avid New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Bernice Sabados, Theresa Moser, and Magdeline Maskerines and brothers: Robert, Joseph, Michael, James, and William Wetzel.
Francis is survived by his companion of 30 years, Rosalie "Rosie" (Leinheiser) Kenderes, Port Carbon; a son Kevin D. Wetzel, Pottsville; grandchildren: Breeanne and Braedon Wetzel, Pottsville; step-sons: Paul S Kenderes Jr. and wife Melissa, Matthew D. Kenderes, and Mark A. Kenderes, all of Louisiana; step-grandsons: Colton and Zachary Kenderes, Louisiana; a sister-in-law Sadie Wetzel, Pottsville; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville on Monday November 24th at 11AM, with Rev. Kevin Bobbin officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday morning from 9:30-11AM at the church.
