George S. Wonchalk, age 92, of Saint Clair, PA passed away on Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville.
Born in Greenbury, PA on February 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Stephen Wonchalk and Anna (Gallo) Brozana.
George worked as a steam shovel operator at Swatara Coal Company in Newtown and then for Quirin's Foundry in Saint Clair until retiring.
George was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Saint Clair and he was a great handyman who could fix anything..
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter Chanel Bender, a sister Mary Saurazas, a brother Steve Wonchalk, and a step-brother Vincent Brozana.
George is survived by his wife of 71 years, Madeline M. (Klemer) Wonchalk; three daughters: Barbara Docherty and her husband Francis, Saint Clair, Carol Sabados and her husband Russell, Cleona, and Diane Bender and her husband Gerardo Talamantes, Saint Clair; eight grandchildren: Bryan Docherty and his wife Michele, Nicole Docherty and her fiance' Michael Reidler, Christopher Docherty, Justin Sabados and his wife Maria, Ryan Sabados and his wife Alison, Eric Bender and his wife Heather, Stephanie Gross and her husband Jereme, and Gerardo Talamantes Jr and his wife Megan; nine great-grandchildren; two step-sisters: Veronica Hopstetter and Elizabeth Greenberg; a step-brother Joseph Brozana; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Saint Clair at 11AM on Friday, June 4th, with Msgn William Glosser officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Friday morning from 9-10:30AM at the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon.
Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Saint Clair.
