Gerald Brown Obituary

Gerald T. Brown, “Jerry” of Pottsville, age 70, passed away at Rosewood Nursing & Rehab Center on Monday November 25, 2024.
Born in Pottsville, March 23, 1954, he was the son of the late John Wm. (1972) & Alice K. (Parry) Brown (2000).  He was also preceded in death by his brothers William J. (1955) & David W. Sr. (2016) & sister Patricia A. Dudash (2024)
He attended St, Joseph Day School for Special Learning, Pottsville, and was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church. He worked part-time for 20 years at the J. H. Zerbey Newspaper, Bulls Head Plant, assisting with the newspaper distributions. He met many obstacles during His lifetime, due to his learning disabilities, but He always showed kindness to anyone he met, but also knew if you were belittling him. His heart was huge, wanting to share whatever he had with others. He loved wearing baseball hats & shirts with corvette/sports logos.  Jerry loved talking to anyone who would take the time to share his conversation, looking through car books, doing jigsaw puzzles, coloring, collecting special treasures, and eating any type of food put in front of him. He also enjoyed anyone that came along with a dog that he could talk about & pet the animal.
Jerry was honored by the Schuylkill County Corvette Association in the Spring of ‘24, who came and paraded through the Rosewood lot to show him their corvettes.    Through all his surgeries, He never complained, and only recently started complaining of pain, but now His suffering has turned to peace, and happiness with his heavenly family.
He is survived by sisters Mary Alice Leskin (Robert “Oscar”), Pottsville, Gail Kesten-Widow of Louis, Williamsburg, VA, brother-in-Law William Dudash, Shoemakersville. Nieces and nephews.
A graveside Committal Service for family & friends will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville on Monday December 2nd at 12 noon.
Jerry will be buried alongside his parents & brothers. The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is assisting the family. www.robertaevansjrfh.com
Special thanks to Rosewood Nursing Home 3A Staff, Compasses Hospice Staff-Lisa March, Ashley Vigoda, and a special friend Erica from Optum, and to everyone who showed compassion, and helped to keep his last days relieved of all sufferings.
