Leona A. Buber, Age 90, of Port Carbon, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2025. She was a resident at Providence Place of Pottsville for the last two and a half years.

Born in Schoentown, PA on April 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Tarris and Bertha Powelton Tarris Kralick and the Step-Daughter of the late John Kralick.

Leona graduated from the Soldiers Memorial High School in Port Carbon on June 12, 1951 and was the Valedictorian of her class and a member of the Honor Society.

She was an active and life-long member of the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon and was a member of the Rosary Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society until the Church closed in January of 2020. She then became a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in New Philadelphia.

Leona was also a very active auxiliary member in the local little league baseball and biddy basketball program for many years and enjoyed volunteer work at the local hospitals. In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards, participating in family events, listening and dancing to big band music, and cheering for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Leona is survived by her two children: Paul E. Buber and his wife JoAnna, Port Carbon, Beverly A. Piscitelli and her husband Michael, Sinking Spring, PA and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Leona was predeceased in death by her parents, her loving and caring husband, Edward, her sister Helen Mirabella and her husband Maurice.
