Loreen L. Miller, 83 of Orwigsburg passed away Monday June 16, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville Sept 16, 1941 she was the daughter of the late David and Ida (Freeze) Lowthert. Loreen graduated from Pottsville High School, class of 1959. Following high school, Loreen started working for the former Pennsylvania National Bank and retired as an administrative assistant from the M&T bank, Yorkville. She married James R. Miller on April 28, 1962 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, recently celebrating 63 years of marriage.
Loreen was once a member of the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She loved staying busy doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing, and making crafts to donate to fundraisers. Loreen was an avid reader, and in her younger years, taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran while raising her children.
For many years Loreen and her husband spent their winters in Florida, often enjoying spring training baseball games. The warmer months were spent in Orwigsburg, caring for her songbirds. Whether in Florida or Pennsylvania, Loreen loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved them very much.
In addition to her parents, Loreen was preceded in death by brothers David and Richard Lowthert.
She is survived by:
Son Jeffrey M. Miller, Orwigsburg;
Daughter Melissa K. Dillard and husband Russell, Richmond VA;
Son James J. Miller and wife Jill, Wilmington NC
5 grandchildren, Christian and Alana Miller, Samantha, Elizabeth and Parker Dillard, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to a funeral service on Monday, June 23 at 11am at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St Port Carbon. A visitation will be from 10am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park.
