Margaret M. (Margie) Painter, age 84, of Pottsville, PA passed away Thursday, April 20th, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Kaska, PA on September 13, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Morell B. and Carolyn E. (Shields) Murray.
Margie was a graduate of Blythe Township High School, Class of 1956. She worked in the cafeteria at Pottsville Area School District for 30 years and 10 of them as the manager of the cafeteria. Margie also worked sporting events at the west end ticket entrance of Veteran's Memorial Stadium and the ticket booth at Martz Hall. She was a 3 time President of the Pottsville Mother's Booster's Club. Margie loved going to Stone Harbor every year with family and friends.
She was a past member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Philadelphia.
Margie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed supporting her grandchildren, in their academic and athletic pursuits. Collecting newspaper articles that documented her family’s accomplishments was one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Janice Murray Fernando.
Margie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard M. Painter; son Richard Painter, his wife Kelly and their children: Ty, Cole, and Katie; son Christopher Painter, his wife Stephanie and their children Mary Kate, Amelia, and Eily; daughter Jennifer Painter, her late husband Donn Hufnagle; daughter Melissa Brennan, her husband Michael, and their children Maggie and Rhyan; son Timothy Painter and his children: Tegan and Keira all of Pottsville; three brothers: John Murray, Northampton, Daniel Murray, Shenandoah Heights, and William Murray and his wife Teresa, Saint Clair; and nieces and nephews.
A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 11AM on Wednesday, April 26th, with Rev. Dave Hereshko officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday evening from 6-8PM and Wednesday morning from 10-11AM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be held in the Charles Baber Cemetery in Pottsville.
