Michael Maccarone Obituary

It is with greatest sadness that we share the passing of Michael A. Maccarone on March 19,2023 at age 65. His family is devastated by the loss of this incredible man who radiated love, kindness, and compassion to all who were lucky enough to cross his path.

Michael lived for his family and is survived by his soulmate Christine (Mirabella) and only son Michael M “little Mike”. Michael and his wife were high school sweethearts, sharing 51 years together and happily celebrated 41 years of marriage in September. Their son Michael was the light of his life. Words truly cannot describe the amount of pride and joy Michael found in his son. He took every opportunity to spend quality time with little Mike.

Michael was born to Rocco and Frances Maccarone. Growing up a “Pally kid”, Michael started working at Angelucci’s Sub Shop. He became a second son to the owners Maurice and Helen Mirabella, officially joining their family when he wed their daughter Christine in 1981. Michael was a 1975 graduate of Pottsville HS and later attended and graduated from Penn State University. He went on to give 40 years of service to Air Products as an engineer technician and project manager. After his retirement in 2019, he looked forward to traveling, summers at the pool, and general family time including his beloved pets Lily and Boo. His interests included nature, winemaking with his son, community service, following Penn State football, and most importantly, making others laugh. He was a member of St. John the Baptist parish as well as the Society of St. Stephens. He truly loved life and always spread positivity.

Michael is also survived by his three brothers: Anthony of Pottsville, Rocco and wife Lisa  of Minersville, and Vincent and wife Tammy of Palo Alto; sister-in-law Mary Anne and her husband Robert of Lewisberry. Michael had several cousins, nieces, and nephews that he loved. He was overjoyed to see the family expand with the additions of great-nieces and great-nephews. The wonderful memories shared with Michael will help us try to fill the void left in his absence. He will be dearly missed.
