Sandra Jane Fessler, 71, longtime resident of Pottsville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at
Greenwood Center Nursing Home, Tamaqua, PA. Born June 8, 1953 in Maryland, she was the
daughter of Joseph and Shirley (Hoffman) Harkins. Sandra graduated from Pottsville High
School, Class of 1971.
After attending nursing school, she was a caregiver and nurse's aide, caring for others in private
duty home health care most of her life, always helping others before herself. Sandra was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church and later St. Patrick's Church, both of Pottsville. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Anthony Kalenkoski on July 5, 2012,
nephew Jeremi Harkins on April 28, 2018, and her loyal cat, Little Patches.
Sandra will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her kindness
touched countless lives, making everyone feel valued and cared for. Her generosity knew no
limits, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sandra's honesty was a guiding
light, bringing integrity and sincerity to every interaction. Her humor brought warmth and
laughter to every gathering, creating cherished memories for all. Throughout her entire life,
Sandra exemplified the best of humanity, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy.
Sandra is survived by sons Mark Fessler, Gordon, PA and Bradford Fessler, Minersville, PA.
Two grandchildren, Bailee Fessler and Jaelin Meade.

Nieces & Nephews: Sandra had many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 12, 2024 at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home,
208 Pike Street, Port Carbon, PA 17965 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Philip Rodgers. Visitation will be
held from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in
Pottsville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Pottsville Soup Kitchen, Trinity Lutheran Church or
St. Patrick’s Church, Pottsville, PA.
