Thelma A. Yost, age 86, of Pottsville, PA passed away Thursday, January 30th, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Pottsville, PA on November 20, 1927,  she was the daughter of the late Russell A. and Mary A. (Knittle) Bechtel.

Thelma was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1945 and then she later earned an Associates Degree in Business from Penn State.

She worked for Phillip Van Heusen for 30 years and then worked as a nurses aide at the Hamburg Center for 10 years until retiring in Dec. 1990.

Thelma was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Carbon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joseph W. Yost in 1987, a sister Grace Foose, and 2 brothers:  Paul A. and Russell W. Bechtel.

Thelma is survived by a daughter Ruth A. O'Leary, Reading; 2 sons:  Joseph P. Yost and David W. Yost, both of  Mechanicsville; 5 grandchildren: Kelly, Tina, Kate, James, and David; 2 great-grandchildren: Aurora and Ezra; 5 sisters:  Edith Lutchkus, Carlisle, Mary Chmielewski, Darby, Ruth Gormley, Springfield, Dorothy Bell and her husband David, Pottsville, and Arlene Miller, Pottsville; 12 nieces and 11 nephews.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 10AM on Tuesday, February 4th,  with Lay Minister Lois Sterling officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday evening from 6-8PM and Tuesday morning from 9-10AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.
