Charles  A. "Chick" Zimmerman, age 84, of Port Carbon passed away Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Buck Mountain, PA on April 2, 1930,  he was the son of the late Edward and Hazel (LaFoy) Zimmerman. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Chick served in the U.S. Air force from 1947 to 1950, attaining the rank of corporal. He retired from Pottsville Bleaching and Dyeing Company in Port Carbon in 1997.

Chick was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Camping trips often included many family members who liked sitting around his roaring campfire.  He was a member of the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George and James Zimmerman and by sisters, Ruth Richards, Mary Stepanski, Dorothy Maurer, Lillian Stauffer, and Rose Coulson.

Chick is survived by his wife Anna "Nancy" (Strausser) Zimmerman, Port Carbon.  Chick and Nancy celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on September 1st.

Chick is also survived by son John Zimmerman, Port Carbon; daughter Teresa Pittman and her husband Kenneth, Bernville; son Raymond Zimmerman and his wife Debra, Lancaster; daughter Clare Lorence and her husband Paul, Cumbola; son Gregory Zimmerman and his wife Christine, Lancaster; daughter Joan Gertner and her husband Stanley, Walnutport; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon at 11AM on Thursday, January 15th,  with Rev. David W. Karns officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday morning from 10-11AM at the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will be held in the St. Stephen Cemetery Port Carbon, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Stephen's Church, 218 Valley Street, Port Carbon, PA 17965
