Elizabeth  Menchefsky, age 89, of Pottsville, PA passed away Thursday, May 28th, 2015 at the Golden Living Center-York Terrace Nursing Home in Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah, PA on November 16, 1925,  she was the daughter of the late Simon and Pauline (Yatscovage) Komanitsky.

Elizabeth was a graduate of JW Cooper High School, Class of 1944.  She was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville.

Elizabeth was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons: Leonard Menchefsky Jr. and Gerard Menchefsky, a brother Simonl Komanitsky, and 3 sisters: Mary Whitko, Anna Bogdan, and Pauline Phillips.

Elizabeth is survived by 2 daughters: Mary Anne R. Menchefsky, Pottsville and Elizabeth Katz, South Carolina;

5 grandchildren: Brian, Dawn, Christine, Albert, and Lynn; 6 great-grandchildren: Hailie, Steven, Melissa, Kathy, Jennifer, and Christopher; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville at 10AM on Monday, June 1st, 2015

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Sunday evening from 6-8PM and Monday 8:30-9:30AM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike Street, Port Carbon.

Interment will be held in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 Frack Street, Frackville, PA 17931 or the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17803 or the Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
