Edward L. Gulko, age 92, of Pottsville, PA passed away Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at his home.

Born in Kaska, PA on May 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Leon and Stefanie (Zelinski) Golkowski.

Ed served in the U.S. Army in the 3860th Service Command Unit in World War II.  He retired from State Manufacturing in New Philadelphia as a machinist after 32 years. Ed owned a sewing machine repair business in Port Carbon and continued to repair machines until the age of 87.

He was a member of the St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven, where he resided for 30 years.

Dad loved all his caring wonderful friends at the Patterson High Rise and referred to them as family. He was truly loved by all.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary (Ferugio) Gulko in 2003, 2 brothers: Steven and Frank Gulko and 2 sisters: Genevieve Betack and Alice Strazinsky.

Ed is survived by 2 daughters: Marianne Bones Matejko and her husband John, Maryland and Bonnie Walcott and her husband Andrew, Pottsville; 2 granddaughters: Gina and Angela; 2 great-grandchildren: Eric and Loren; 2 sisters: Cecelia Hoysock, Schuylkill Haven and Rosalie Moore, Oklahoma; and nieces and nephews.

A Vigil Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 8PM on Wednesday, April 19th, with Deacon Edward Freed officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6-8PM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home.

His interment will be held private at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
